Become a Caritas Parish Rep

Caritas Southwark will help to build up our common bond of Christian service…
inspiring new initiatives that give flesh to the Gospel through our generosity

Archbishop John Wilson

Caritas Southwark is all about putting faith into action — and we’re looking for passionate, kind-hearted people to help us do just that.
As a Parish Rep, you’ll be the friendly face helping to connect your church community with local initiatives and wider Caritas projects.

You don’t need to be an expert — just someone who cares, listens, and is willing to serve others like Christ. Whether you’re already active in parish life
or just starting to think about how you can give something back, we’ll support you every step of the way.

Sounds like you? Read on to find out what being a Caritas Rep involves — and how to get started.

Why Does It Matter?

What Does a Caritas Parish Rep Do?

A Caritas Rep acts as a bridge – connecting your parish with the work Caritas Southwark is doing across the archdiocese. That might mean:

  • Sharing updates about local projects.
  • Helping to organise events and collections.
  • Promoting volunteering and charitable activities locally.
  • Helping to identify needs in your local community.
  • Being a friendly point of contact for social action in your parish.

Whether you’ve got lots of time or just a little, your presence and passion will make a real difference. And don’t worry – you’ll be supported every step of the way by the Caritas team and a growing network of Reps just like you.

Do I Need Experience?

Not at all! You don’t need a background in charity work, theology, or anything fancy. All you need is:

  • A desire to serve others like Christ.
  • A willingness to get involved.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliability and commitment.
  • An enthusiasm for Catholic Social Teaching.

Whether you’re already running parish groups or you’re just looking for a new way to live out your faith, we’ll give you the support, resources, and friendly check-ins to help you feel confident in the role.
