What is Caritas Southwark?

Who We Are

Caritas Southwark is a Catholic social action agency which addresses the needs of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Our work includes supporting those suffering from food poverty, helping refugees and migrants and improving the lives of the elderly and the young.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to put the love of Christ into action by supporting parishes, schools and other organisations in their efforts to serve those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and injustice.

We aim to be a bridge between local communities and larger networks of social action, helping these groups live out their Catholic faith through concrete acts of service.

Where We Work

Caritas Southwark operates within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark, which is made up of 176 parishes and 163 schools across South London and Kent.

Our Objectives

  1. Build Strong Networks
We are committed to fostering a collaborative environment where local groups can share best practices, learn from one another, and explore opportunities for partnership.

  2. Inspire and Celebrate
By celebrating the successes of parishes, schools and individuals engaged in Catholic social action, we aim to inspire others to join in and deepen their commitment to Christian service.

  3. Develop Resources
We are working on building online resources, toolkits and educational materials to help communities develop social action initiatives and gain a deeper understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
