The Caritas team in Ashford have been quietly getting on with some amazing work — and it’s time we gave them a proper shout-out!
From food collections for the local Salvation Army and food banks, to pulling together essential items for new mums, this group of dedicated volunteers is always looking out for people in need. They’ve also continued to support refugees staying in nearby hotels, making sure they feel welcomed and cared for in the community.
One of the real highlights is Café Caritas. Held every other Saturday, it’s a warm, friendly space where people can drop in for a cuppa, a chat, and a sense of belonging. What started as a gathering for parishioners has started to grow, and there are exciting hopes to reach out even more — especially to those experiencing homelessness in Ashford.
Lately, the group has been busy putting together support packages for those who are struggling. Whether it’s food, toiletries, or simply a bit of kindness, their message is clear: no one should feel forgotten, and we’re all brothers and sisters in Christ.
